Playback Theatre goes to India!
July 15, 2019
Over the past 25 years, our company has been of service, playing back community stories of resistance, immigration, love, home, and activism. We’ve performed hundreds of times across the United States in an effort to create healing, connection and community. If you’ve seen Playback Theatre, you know how vital this work can be to combat hate and suffering with empathy and understanding. As a diverse collective of 14 artists, we feel called to this work.
At the International Playback Theatre Conference in India, the Living Arts Playback Theatre Ensemble will assist in a workshop facilitated by our director, psychotherapist and drama therapist, Armand Volkas. He will guide conference attendees in a process that focuses on intercultural conflict transformation and healing historical trauma. Armand will use his approach with the goal of building empathy between historical enemies through Playback Theatre. Through Armand’s facilitation, Playback Theatre practitioners from many countries and cultures will be exposed to his innovative Peacebuilding work.
If you are able to donate a gift of any amount, you’ll be investing in peace during a time of deep division in our country and beyond. You’ll be sending us to India to learn from other artists and healers. For you, community, we are deeply grateful.
